How Can I Edit My Template Files on WordPress?

When you first install WordPress, it creates a default template file named “default.php”.

This file contains basic information about your website, such as the WordPress name, the website address, and the theme used. You can edit this file to customize your website’s appearance.

To edit your template file, open the file in a text editor (such as Notepad or Microsoft Word) and make changes as needed. To save your changes, click the “File” menu item and then click “Save As”.

In the Save As dialog box, type the name of the file you want to save the changes to, and then click “Save”.

To use your newly modified template file, you need to re-upload it to your WordPress website. To do this, click the “Upload” menu item and then click “Upload Files”.

In the Files to Upload dialog box, select the file you want to upload and then click “Upload”.

When your file is uploaded, WordPress automatically selects it as the template file for your website. To use the new template file, click the “Site” menu item and then click “Use Default”.

To revert to the default template file, click the “Site” menu item and then click “Use Default (Old)”.
