How Do I Edit a Page Template in WordPress?

Editing a Page Template in WordPress is a relatively easy process. To begin, open the Page Template you wish to edit in the WordPress admin area. Once open, you will see a series of tabs across the top of the screen. The first tab, General, is where you will find options for the page template such as the page title and content.

The next tab, Elements, is where you will find all of the content and formatting for the page. The third tab, Custom Fields, is where you can add custom fields to the page. The fourth tab, Media, is where you will find all of the media files for the page. The last tab, Settings, is where you can make any required adjustments to the page template.

To make any changes to the page template, first make sure you have the correct WordPress version installed. If you are using a previous version of WordPress, you will need to upgrade to update to the latest version. Once you have the correct WordPress version installed, click on the Settings tab in the Page Template admin area. This will open the Settings panel for the page template.

In the Settings panel, you will find the Edit link. Click on the Edit link to open the Edit Page Template screen. On the Edit Page Template screen, you will find all of the changes you can make to the page template.

To make a change to the page title, first make sure you have the correct WordPress slug saved for the page. To save a slug, under the General tab in the Page Template admin area, click on the Save Slugs link. This will open the Slugs panel. In the Slugs panel, you will see the name of the page, the slug, and the current title. To change the page title, under the General tab in the Page Template admin area, click on the Title link. This will save the new title as the slug for the page. To change the page title again, under the Title screen, click on the Restore button. This will reload the Title screen with the new title saved as the slug.

To make a change to the page content, first make sure you have the correct WordPress content type saved for the page. To save a content type, under the General tab in the Page Template admin area, click on the Save Content Types link. This will open the Content Types panel. In the Content Types panel, you will see the name of the page, the content type, and the current title. To change the page content, under the General tab in the Page Template admin area, click on the Content link. This will open the Content screen.

On the Content screen, you will see the current content and the content you will be saving the content type to. To change the page content, under the Content screen, type in the new content and press the Enter key. This will save the new content as the content type for the page. To change the page content again, under the Content screen, click on the Restore button. This will reload the Content screen with the new content saved as the content type.

To make a change to the page layout, first make sure you have the correct WordPress theme saved for the page. To save a theme, under the General tab in the Page Template admin area, click on the Save Themes link. This will open the Themes panel. In the Themes panel, you will see the name of the page, the theme, and the current title. To change the page layout, under the General tab in the Page Template admin area, click on the Layout link. This will open the Layout screen.

On the Layout screen, you will see the current layout and the layout you will be saving the theme to. To change the page layout, under the Layout screen, type in the new layout and press the Enter key. This will save the new layout as the layout for the page. To change the page layout again, under the Layout screen, click on the Restore button. This will reload the Layout screen with the new layout saved as the layout.
