Does WordPress Install MySQL?

WordPress is a popular content management system (CMS) that enables you to create a website or blog from scratch, or to improve an existing website. WordPress is free and open source software released under the GPL, meaning it is free to use, distribute, and modify.

To run a WordPress site on a server, you’ll need to install the WordPress platform and select a hosting provider. WordPress will automatically download and install the necessary software, including MySQL, to enable you to create and manage your content.

Though WordPress installs MySQL by default, you may not have access to it if you’re not using a hosted WordPress site. If you’re building a self-hosted WordPress site, you’ll need to install and configure MySQL yourself.
