Why Is WordPress Saying I Don’t Have a Site?

If you’ve been following along with our WordPress site tutorial, you’ve probably noticed that every now and then it tells you that you don’t have a site. This usually happens when you’re trying to create a new site, and WordPress can’t find any existing files that match the name you’ve given it.

The good news is that this problem can be easily resolved. All you need to do is make sure that you’ve installed the WordPress plugin Site administrators and created a site.

If you haven’t done either of these things yet, we recommend you take a look at our guide first.

Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a look at why WordPress might be telling you that you don’t have a site.

There are a few potential reasons why WordPress might think that you don’t have a site. Maybe you’ve deleted any old files that were associated with your old site, or maybe you’ve never created any files at all and WordPress is just assuming that you don’t have a site.

Whatever the reason may be, the easiest way to resolve the problem is to install the Site administrators plugin and create a site. Once you’ve done that, WordPress will know that you actually do have a site and won’t be able to tell you that you don’t.
