What Is a Featured Image in Some WordPress Themes?

A featured image is a high-resolution image that appears in the header of a WordPress theme. It’s typically a stock image that the theme owner has licensed or purchased.

Featured images make your theme look professional and help promote your site.

In order for a theme to include a featured image, you’ll need to add a custom post type called “Theme Featured Image.” In the “Post Types” section of the WordPress admin, select “Theme Featured Image.” Then, add a post template and fill out the fields as follows:

The “Post Text” field is where you’ll enter the text of your post.

The “Featured Image” field is where you’ll upload your featured image.

The “Width” and “Height” fields are where you’ll input the dimensions of your featured image.

The “Alt Text” field is where you’ll enter the text you want to appear beneath your featured image.

The “Link Text” field is where you’ll enter the text you want to appear beneath your featured image’s link.

The “Publish Date” field is where you’ll enter the date your post will be published.

The “Is Author” checkbox is where you’ll select whether or not your post is an author’s post.
