How Do You Tell if a Site Is a WordPress Site?

By now, you probably know that WordPress is a popular content management system (CMS) for online applications. But just what does that mean for you? Well, if you’re considering using WordPress for your next website project, you’ll want to make sure that the site you’re working on is actually a WordPress site.

To check, first take a look at the URL (eg. www.example.com).

If it starts with wp- and includes a WordPress.com domain name, then it’s most likely a WordPress site. If the URL doesn’t start with wp- and doesn’t include a WordPress.com domain name, then it’s most likely not a WordPress site.

If you’re still not sure, you can use a tool like Google Webmaster Tools to check the site’s status. This tool will show you the site’s Google PageRank, the site’s Google Webmaster Tools status, the site’s Alexa Traffic Rank, and more.

If any of these numbers are lower than they should be, then you can be pretty sure that the site is not a WordPress site.
