How Do I Find My Excerpt Length in WordPress?

Finding your excerpt length in WordPress is easy. All you need to do is open your WordPress site in your web browser, and go to Settings > Media.

On the Media Settings page, you’ll see an “Excerpt Length” field.

To find out how much text you’ve included in your posts so far, just enter the number of characters in that field and hit the “Get Excerpt Length” button. WordPress will return the number of words in your posts up to that point, as well as the total number of words in your post.

Now that you know how much text you’ve included in your posts so far, you can use that information to calculate how much text you’ll need to include in your posts in order to reach your desired excerpt length. Simply divide the number of words in your desired excerpt length by the number of words in your posts so far, and you’ll know how many more words you need to include in your posts in order to reach your desired length.

For example, if you want to include an excerpt that’s three words long, and your posts so far contain a total of 112 words, you’ll need to include a total of 116 words in your posts in order to reach your desired excerpt length.
