How Do I Add an Existing Domain to WordPress?

Adding an Existing Domain to WordPress

Adding an existing domain to WordPress can be a daunting task, but it’s not as difficult as you may think. There are a few basic steps that you need to take to get started, and we’ll walk you through each one of them below.

First, you’ll need to find the DNS records for your domain. This can be done using a number of different tools, but our favorite is DNS Made Easy. Once you’ve found the DNS records, you’ll need to add them to your WordPress site. To do this, you’ll need to go to your WordPress site’s settings, and then under “Site Settings” find the “General” tab.

Here, you’ll find a section called “Domains”. In this section, you’ll need to add the DNS address for your domain, followed by the port (53 for most domains). Finally, you’ll need to add your WordPress site’s IP address to the “Host” field.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll need to activate your domain in WordPress. To do this, you’ll need to go to your WordPress site’s “Settings” page, and under the “General” tab, find the “Domains” section. Here, you’ll find a section called “Add a Domain”. In this section, you’ll need to enter the DNS address for your domain, followed by the login information for your domain’s account (usually your username and password).

Finally, you’ll need to click “Add Domain”. WordPress will then attempt to connect to your domain, and will prompt you to enter the WordPress site’s IP address. After you’ve entered the IP address, WordPress will activate your domain.

That’s all there is to it! Once you’ve completed these steps, your domain should be added to your WordPress site, and you should be ready to start building your website.
